Long before the Royal Oak became one of Audemars Piguet’s most iconic signatures, the Manufacture was already creating exceptional pieces at the crossroads of fine watchmaking and high jewellery. This remarkable “Heavy Cobra” perfectly embodies this particularly creative period in the Maison’s history.
 
Entirely crafted from 18k white gold, the watch immediately stands out for its spectacular integrated bracelet, featuring an intricately woven mesh construction. Dense and exceptionally well crafted, it gives the watch a truly sculptural presence. Here, the bracelet is far more than a functional element: it is an integral part of the design, flowing seamlessly into the case to create a continuous piece of jewellery around the wrist.
 
The softly contoured case, measuring approximately 27 × 32 mm, houses an elegant brushed silver dial set with diamond hour markers. The understated dial provides a subtle contrast to the richness of the goldwork, resulting in a piece that feels precious, refined and highly characteristic of Audemars Piguet creations from the 1970s.
Weighing approximately 104 grams, the substantial amount of white gold can immediately be felt both in the hand and on the wrist, perfectly explaining the “Heavy Cobra” nickname associated with this type of model.
