Piaget Polo 79 — 38 mm Yellow Gold

Originally launched in 1979, the Piaget Polo holds a special place in the history of the Maison: it was the very first Piaget watch to be officially given a name. Inspired by the world of polo and the jet-set lifestyle of the era, it quickly became one of Piaget’s most recognizable designs.

In 2024, Piaget brought the model back under the name Polo 79, in a version remarkably faithful to the original. Crafted entirely from 18k yellow gold, it retains everything that defined the original design: a fully integrated case and bracelet conceived as one continuous piece, along with the distinctive alternation of brushed surfaces and polished gadroons extending across the dial.

At 38 mm in diameter and just 7.45 mm thick, the Polo 79 maintains an exceptionally slim profile despite its full-gold construction. Inside is Piaget’s manufacture calibre 1200P1, an ultra-thin automatic mechanical movement that reflects the Maison’s long-standing expertise in creating remarkably slender movements.

A very Piaget watch in every sense: somewhere between fine watchmaking, design and jewellery, with an aesthetic born in the late 1970s that feels surprisingly contemporary today. The Polo 79 was also awarded the Iconic Watch Prize at the 2024 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.
