PIAGET•LAPIS LAZULI
This Piaget reference 9741 A20 is a perfect expression of what the Maison did best during the 1970s: ultra-thin watchmaking, precious metals and spectacular hard-stone dials.
The dial is crafted from natural lapis lazuli, with its intense deep blue tones and subtle variations in the stone making every example unique. Completely free of hour markers, the design leaves the lapis almost uninterrupted, simply punctuated by the Piaget signature and two slender hands. A particularly clean approach that puts the stone at the centre of the watch.
The 18k white gold case flows directly into an integrated bracelet with a beautifully textured, almost sculpted finish. The same pattern continues across the hidden deployant clasp, giving the whole piece the appearance of a true piece of jewellery. Combined with the softly geometric 29 × 32 mm case, it gives the watch that unmistakable 1970s Piaget aesthetic.
Inside is the celebrated Piaget calibre 9P, an ultra-thin manual-winding mechanical movement introduced in 1957. Its remarkably slim construction allowed the Maison to create precisely this kind of elegant watch, where the movement gives way to the design, the stone and the craftsmanship of the gold.
A beautiful combination of lapis lazuli, textured white gold and one of Piaget’s most emblematic movements.
